Chris Phillips began his studies in piano and theory from a very young age with his father Kostas Filippeos. He also later studied piano performance and music history at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada.
He began his recording career producing songs for Dance/EDM Artists Alexia, Kathy Phillips, Stevie B, Lil’ Suzy and Tito Puente Jr., all of which hit the Billboard Charts throughout the 90’s and received heavy radio play on most dance radio stations throughout Canada and the U.S.
Chris produced a total of 8 Gold and Platinum selling records in various genres including Dance/EDM, Health and Wellness, World/New Age and Children’s Music. His Children’s Album “Dance Baby Dance” has sold over 1,000,000 copies in North America. He also produced countless fitness albums including “Cardio Workout Vol. 1” which sold over 100,000 copies, and from 2005 to 2015 Chris produced and composed 15 albums and DVD’s with Celebrity fitness guru Richard Simmons.
Chris produced and composed the music for numerous television programs and commercials including theme songs for Channel 47, Odyssey Television and the hit Canadian television program “Asian Horizons” as well as a television commercial for IBM featuring Kathy Phillips and the song “I Wish” which also hit radio waves across North America which propelled it to the #1 spot on the Billboard Dance Charts.
Chris also produced and co-wrote a catalogue of 10 songs with 2 time Academy* Award winner Al Kasha featuring Kathy Phillips. Most recently, Chris produced and composed 4 albums for Jim Brickman, who is one of the best selling New Age artists and pianists in the world. The albums “All Is Calm”, and “Soothe” Vol 1, 2 and 3 all reached the #1 spot on the New/Age Billboard Charts from 2013 – 2018.
Chris owns and operates Odeon Records with Kostas Filippeos which has a catalogue of over 5000 songs and 180 albums that generate over 2 million streams on Spotify and Apple Music every month. Their production team records and produces over 30 songs per month in almost every genre.
In 2017 Chris composed the music for the short film “Out” directed by Amanda Alvich which was an official selection in the Columbia, New York and Pride film festivals. Chris also recently completed the music to the film documentary “Melancholia” about depression and mental health in Greece which will be released early 2018.
